Gift to Support Scholarships for Medical Students

Sue A. McCutcheon

Sue A. McCutcheon, M.D., '56

Dr. Sue McCutcheon's interest in medicine began at an early age. One Christmas, as a young girl, Sue's father, who was a general surgeon, bought her a child's doctor bag.

Subsequently, Sue pursued her dream by attending medical school at UB, where she earned her degree in 1956. Fond memories of her time at UB included Dr. O.P. Jones, distinguished professor emeritus, whose career spanned from 1937 to 1971. Sue cites Jones as a great influence, who ultimately sparked her interest in hematology.

During the 25 years she practiced internal medicine and hematology in Rochester, Michigan, Sue volunteered with Project Hope in underserved countries, lending her time and talents as a medical professional.

Sue's generosity has spread to UB, where she has named UB's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in her will. Her gift will benefit students pursuing degrees in medicine.
