Gift to Support School of Nursing

During her lifetime, Shirley Devoe '42, B.S., School of Nursing, '58, M.S., School of Nursing, was a loyal friend and supporter of UB's School of Nursing. When Shirley passed away, she made sure that her generosity would carry on in perpetuity.

"Shirley's generosity and foresight will support student scholarships as well as general support within the School of Nursing," says Wendy Irving, assistant vice president for gift planning at UB. "Over the years, a number of staff members within UB's Development department have had the pleasure of working closely with Shirley. As a result, this team approach allowed Shirley to maximize her support for the school through a unique combination of planned and outright gifts, which eventually generated income for the donor and maximized tax benefits," Irving adds. "This truly was a win-win relationship for both the donor and the university," Irving says.
