Social Work Students to Benefit From Bequest

"My education transformed my life," says Peter Rittner, assistant dean for educational technology in University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences. "Barbara and I often think about what we want to leave behind," he adds.

Barbara Rittner, associate professor, associate dean for external affairs and director of the Ph.D. program in the School of Social Work, remembers when she was in college. Her mother had died and during her sophomore year, her father passed away as well. "I had no idea how I was going to pay for college," she says. A professor paid her tuition and board for a semester, until she could get her bearings. Now she wants to pay it forward and help students, too.

Several years ago, Peter and Barbara decided to support UB's School of Social Work by naming the school as a beneficiary of a bequest.
